• A resident of the 7N0-99 block of Joseph Street near South Elgin reported at 1:20 p.m. July 2 that 20 of the resident's checks had been forged, resulting a loss of $8,000, according to a sheriff report.

• Someone punctured four tires on a car parked on the 38W700 block of Route 20 near Elgin between 1 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to a sheriff report.

• A laptop, purse, women's Rolex watch, and wedding ring and band set, a total combined value of $19,150, were stolen between 11 p.m. July 2 and 5:30 a.m. Friday from a car parked on the 7N0-99 block of Plymouth Court near St. Charles, according to a sheriff report.

• Between $150 and $200 in gift cards, along with $20 cash, were stolen between 8 p.m. July 2 and 8 a.m. Friday from an unlocked car parked on the 36W400 block of Bristol Road near St. Charles, according to a sheriff report.

• A wallet was reported stolen at 12:50 a.m. Sunday from a vehicle parked on the 11N900 block of Sexauer Avenue near Elgin, according to a sheriff report.

• Tyler J. Morris, 28, of the 400 block of Offutt Lane, North Aurora, was arrested and charged with three counts of felony possession of a controlled substance at 2:06 a.m. Sunday, according to a sheriff report. Morris was a passenger in a vehicle that pulled into the parking lot of a closed restaurant on the 100 block of South Aurora-Batavia Road near North Aurora. Police pulled up and the driver, Ryan J. Newcomer, 31, of the 28W500 block of Forestview Avenue, Warrenville, ran off and later was charged with driving while license suspended, reports said. Authorities found heroin in the vehicle as well as a substance on Morris that tested positive for cocaine, the report said.
