Elgin Hispanic Network to offer scholarships

The Elgin Hispanic Network is awarding three $1,500 scholarships this year. Students who are eligible must be a graduating Elgin area high school student, senior of Hispanic descent, and enroll in a degree or certificate program in the fall of 2014 in an accredited college or university.

Selection criteria are based on academic performance, extracurricular activity, community involvement, financial need and completion of an essay.

Demonstration of bilingualism and biculturalism will also be considered.

Finalists may be asked to participate in a brief interview and selected recipients are requested to provide a signed release for a photograph and video for the Elgin Hispanic Network website/Facebook page.
