Three hurt in I-90 crash near Hoffman Estates

Three people were sent to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a two-car crash closed four lanes of traffic on I-90 just east of the Barrington Road exit near Hoffman Estates.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Sergio Ortiz said both cars were driving west when one made a lane change in front of the other, causing the crash.

The middle and left lanes of both the westbound and eastbound sides of the highway were closed around milepost 63.5 for about an hour while emergency crews worked. The crash happened at 12:53 p.m. and the lanes were reopened to traffic at about 1:46 p.m.

Ortiz said the all three people involved with the crash suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. Two were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, and the third Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

Ortiz said and no citations have been issued.
