Authorities: Men snowplowed driveways before breaking in

KALKASKA, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say two men snowplowed driveways at homes in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula before they broke into them and took guns, electronics, furniture and even a stuffed bobcat.

Kalkaska County Undersheriff Abe DeVol says investigators linked the suspects to 25 break-ins between December and last week. He tells the Traverse City Record-Eagle (http://bit.ly/1BtqHN1 ) they targeted empty seasonal and permanent homes in Antrim and Kalkaska counties.

DeVol says an estimated $45,000 worth of property was taken, including power tools and collectibles. He says items that were easy to take or sell were targeted.

DeVol says a tip after a theft in Kalkaska County's Clearwater Township led investigators to two Kalkaska men, ages 28 and 30. They're jailed. Authorities recovered about $15,000 of stolen items from pawn shops, consignment stores and individuals.
