Arlington Heights pub offers up 'Pint with Peggy' night
Diners got the chance to meet and have a drink with Peggy Kinnane, the namesake of the popular Arlington heights restaurant on Wednesday night.
Kinnane, 75, was visiting from ireland and took park in a special promotion at her son, Derek Hanley's, downtown restaurant.
The first 200 customers received a shirt that says “I had a pint with Peggy” and posed for pictures with her.
It was the first time Kinnane has visited America in years and Hanley said he always has customers asking him about the name of the restaurant and if they could meet the woman who inspired him to open his irish pub.
“We're just trying to have a bit of fun,” he said. “She's a lovely woman and God knows when she will be over here again.”
Hanley said they were also collecting donations for a hospice in Ireland.
Judy Kriston and her neighbor Joan Tobin, who live in the condominium above restaurant, came for dinner and the opportunity to meet Peggy Kinnane.
“You get a chance to meet Peggy and and have some good Irish food from Peggy Kinnane's, that's all it takes,” Kriston said.
