Fire leaves Hanover Park home with $15,000 in damage
A fire that started in a closet of a Hanover Park home undergoing renovations caused about $15,000 in damage Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
A contractor working in the two-story home on the 2100 block of Maple Avenue called 911 about 4 p.m. after seeing smoke in the closet, Hanover Park Battalion Chief Larry Pikora said. Within a couple of minutes, firefighters put out the blaze. No residents were there at the time.
Authorities are investigating what caused the fire.
