Aurora police arrest 2nd man on drug, weapons charges after parole check

Aurora police have arrested a second man in connection with a Nov. 7 parole check that resulted in the seizure of $111,000 in heroin and other drugs, along with a cache of weapons.

Issac T. Echols, 27, was arrested Saturday on the 100 block of Oak Lawn Avenue in Oswego on felony charges of manufacture/delivery of controlled substances of 400 grams to 900 grams of cocaine, 100 grams to 400 grams of heroin and 15 to 200 ecstasy pills, along with seven counts of felony possession of a firearm, according to police and Kane County court records.

Echols also is charged with possession of 30 grams to 500 grams of marijuana, records show.

Aurora Police Sgt. Eric Westrom said authorities identified Echols as a second suspect after a Nov. 7 parole compliance check resulted in the arrest of Terrell A. Alvarez, 23, of the 1300 block of Solfisburg Avenue, Aurora.

Westrom said police believe Echols lived at the address but was not home at the time police visited Alvarez and later obtained a search warrant after guns and drugs were in plain view.

In the search, police seized eight firearms - an AR-15 and seven handguns, two of which were stolen. Authorities also seized nearly 785 grams of cocaine, nearly 235 grams of heroin, 339 grams of marijuana, 190 Ecstasy pills, 79 Xanax pills and six boxes of THC cartridges for vaping, and $6,000.

Authorities said they also found a drug press, money counter, vacuum sealer, cutting agents for drugs, a jammer that detects recording devices and blocks cell signals, various jewelry and gold coins and a bag of 36 loose diamonds.

Echols is held at the Kane County jail on $2 million bail, meaning he must post $200,000 to be released while the case is pending. Prosecutors also have filed a motion requiring Echols to prove his bond money comes from legal sources, records show.

Echols is due in court Wednesday and faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Alvarez is due in court Dec. 12.
