Keller Williams Realty donates time, furnishings to Dist. 200 transitional center
Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200's Transition Center has a new look, thanks to a realty group.
More than 30 agents from Keller Williams Realty volunteered their time and labor at the center Thursday, painting the plain white walls, decorating the interior and doing landscaping.
The center was moved out of Hubble Middle School and into a 2,500-square-foot space in downtown Wheaton last summer. It provides vocational and independent living opportunities for 18- to 22-year-olds with special needs. About 35 students receive services at the center each year.
District 200 school board member Joann Coghill works for Keller Williams and recommended the transition center as a worthy cause that could use some help from the company.
“When she came to our open house in the fall, she noticed that although the space is very functional and safe, it could use a little bit of curb appeal,” said Sue Waters, director of student services.
The work was done on Kelley Williams Realty's annual day of service, called RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate.
