Throughout my life, I have been a leader in many organizations. I started in 4-H at age nine and my involvement continues. I am currently Vice President of the McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation. I am a member of the Huntley Lions Club, serving previously as a Vice President and now Treasurer since 2013. I was on the Village of Huntley Zoning Board of Appeals and currently serve on the Huntley Planning Commission. Through serving in each of these capacities, I have worked closely with many different people and personalities. I have experienced success in every organization by working with colleagues for the best possible outcome for the cause. I also bring a business and construction background to the Village board. In combining my professional background and leadership skills, I believe these qualities make me a qualified candidate. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Huntley's Local sales tax rate and property tax rate is among the lowest of seven neighboring communities. I believe our tax rate is very fair. I think the Village has done a good job balancing our tax rate as income, with services rendered for the citizens of Huntley.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I believe our Fire and Police Departments do a good job covering the Village of Huntley. I think as long these Departments continue to devote resources for updating current systems, education and looking to the future, they will be prepared to keep up with whatever comes their way. With this being said, it is important to keep in mind that the Fire Department is its own entity.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I think the Village staff and officials have done a good job with the current budget. The Village has received ongoing recognition for this financial stability. I don't see areas where the budget could be trimmed without cutting services. We have always been a fiscally conservative community and the budget reflects this outlook. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet? There are properties around the village of Huntley that once generated taxable income for the village. currently, some of these properties are unattended and seem to have been forgotten about. I believe there are redevelopment possibilities for these properties that would be beneficial to the property owners and Village of Huntley. We need to look at how these properties can be redeveloped and fit within our comprehensive plan. (Example: Westland golf facility)What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I would like to focus on economic development with an emphasis on attracting quality and diversity to the Village of Huntley. I see opportunities to continue to grow Huntley. This economic development should continue beyond the developments from Kruetzer Road to 90. Huntley needs well balanced and sustainable growth that ensures a quality place to live, work and play for generations to come. Downtown revitalization ... We have one chance to do this and do it right! Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Be it a job big or small do it right or not at all. Every job is a self portrait...Autograph your work with excellence! If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Don't take anything/anyone for granted one day you'll wake up and what you thought would be there forever is gone...forever.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math....you really can not do much with out it! I deal with numbers and formulas daily. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be true to yourself, make everyday count, you never know what's going to happen tomorrow. Live for today it is the "present".
