Impose fees for cars idling at drive-ups

We are paying $4-plus for gasoline, and yet we sit in our cars at the drive-ups thinking nothing of the excess pollution that our idling cars are making. If we could get out of cars and take those few extra steps, we would burn off some calories instead of gasoline.

A pollution tax of 5 cents, or even 10 cents, for the use of these drive-ups could reduce our current deficit. Automobiles could be kept track with counters, or a flat tax could be initiated against gross sales of the establishment.

People may balk at paying such a fee, but they would have the option not to pay by just getting out of their cars.
