Century Oaks Elementary holds McTeachers Night

Century Oaks Elementary School in Elgin Area School District U-46 held their very first McTeacher's Night on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Elgin McDonald's on Larkin Street. This is a night organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then a percentage of the schools sales for the night is given back to the school.

On Tuesday, the McDonald's was taken over by Century Oaks staff that were very excited to serve fresh prepared meals to their students and their families. The families were happy to help raise money for their school.

Twenty-one teachers came prepared to work hard and have some fun. Principal Dr. Andrea Erickson spent most of her night dressed in a pie costume selling pies for tips, first-grade teacher Mr. Tabares also took a turn being the pie and had a blast dancing in the pie costume. The Bear Family donates a case of pies to the school and the school then sells them for tips. All proceeds on donated pie sales go to the school.

A special thank you goes out to Principal Erickson, Vice Principal Martinez and Secretary Gia Mallinas who organized the entire event. This was a night they will talk about for many years to come.

Century Oaks Elementary School has a few ways they can spend the money raised, the most important one is for the money raised to be used toward PBIS rewards.
