Marmion to host Christmas concert

The Marmion-Rosary Band, Marmion-Rosary Jazz Ensemble, the Marmion-Rosary Percussion Ensemble and Marmion Chorus present its Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. The program will be presented in the Marmion Alumni Hall gym, 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora. Enter through the east side of the gym. Admission is free, with freewill donations will be accepted.

The Marmion Choir will feature a variety of Christmas selections, including "Angels We Have Heard On High," "The Hands that First Held Mary's Child," "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night" and "O, Holy Night."

The Marmion-Rosary Band will feature "Suite Française" by Milhaud, "Raging Machines" by Brian Balmages, and "Beyond the Summit" by Brian Balmages and the Marmion-Rosary Jazz Ensemble will perform "Tico Tico" by Zequinha Abreu and "Blood Count" by Billy Strayhorn. Also featured will be the Marmion-Rosary Flags performing "Harry Potter" by John Williams.

The Marmion-Rosary Band and Jazz Ensemble are directed by Stephen Thurlow and Brian Birch, the Marmion Chorus is directed by Brian Birch, and the Marmion-Rosary Guard is directed by Carrie Huebner and Sam Dedic.

Marmion Academy also will host an art exhibit "Telling the Story: Crèches from the Collection of Ray and Leah Theisen" through Jan. 10. The exhibit, held in the Dr. Scholl Exhibit Mezzanine at Marmion Academy, is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school days. A reception, also open to the public, will be held in conjunction with the Christmas Concert from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.
