St. Francis de Sales 8th-grade girls volleyball undefeated in conference
The future is bright for eighth-grade girls volleyball players from St. Francis de Sales School in Lake Zurich. They capped off their season with a conference win at St. Viator High School on Sunday, Nov. 1.
This was familiar territory as the girls also won their conference in seventh grade. Most of the team and coaches have worked together since fifth grade. Each year has been a winning year for them; however, eighth grade may have been the Eagles' best year yet.
They were undefeated in their conference, which consists of teams in Northwest Suburban Cook and Lake Counties. Additionally, they traveled to Benet Academy in Lisle and Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club in Pleasant Prairie, where they won both of their eighth-grade tournaments.
Members of the St. Francis eighth-grade volleyball Eagles are Kaitlyn Donton, Gretchen Greeby, Ellie Hoffman, Natalie Jokerst, Faith Krabbe, Lauren Malenfant, Rachel Mooney, Ebun Oduba, Angelina Palomino, Leah Salit, Emma Thomas, and Olivia Vinci. They are coached by Rita Salit and Craig Donton.
