2nd victim dies after last week's Omaha fire
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A second person has died after last week's fire at a boarding house in southeast Omaha.
The Omaha Fire Department said Monday that 27-year-old Eddie Valentine died Friday, three days after the fire. Thirty-eight-year-old Demitria Sanchez died last Tuesday.
A preliminary report suggests that smoke inhalation caused Valentine's death, but an autopsy will be performed.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire in an older home that had been divided into apartments.
