Cuomo attends cop's wake 2 days after his dad died
NEW YORK (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo has attended the wake of a slain New York Police Department officer, saying his late father would have wanted him to be there.
The governor arrived Saturday at the gathering for Officer Wenjian Liu (WEHN'-jihn loo). It came two days after Cuomo's father - former Gov. Mario Cuomo - died at his home.
Liu was shot to death in his patrol car two weeks ago along with Officer Rafael Ramos. Their killer then committed suicide. Liu's funeral is scheduled for Sunday. Ramos was buried last week.
Cuomo waved to reporters as he entered the Brooklyn funeral home. When he emerged, he called the killings a "tragic story."
Of his father, Cuomo says he has a hole in his heart and misses him already.
