Relay For Life begins May 15 at South Elgin High

The 2015 Relay For Life will be held from 6 p.m. Friday, May 15 until 6 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the South Elgin High School stadium, 760 E. Main St., South Elgin.

The Relay For Life is a 12-hour overnight fundraiser in which teams work together to "celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and fight back against a disease that takes far too much."

Teams of any size raise money throughout the year. At the annual Relay For Life event, team members take turns walking the outdoor track throughout the night to symbolize that cancer never sleeps. Teams have their own campsites.

Entertainment, activities, and food are available during the night.

Each participant raising $100 receives a T-shirt and the ability to spend the night.

Vendors will be selling items at the event on Friday between 5 and 8 p.m., with a portion of their proceeds going to Relay For Life!

Included are Jamberry Nails, Origami Owl, Pampered Chef, Cupcakes and others.

Those interested in selling items should contact Ann Brady at annbrady@u-46.org.
