Rolling Meadows honors new firefighters

The Rolling Meadows City Council recently took time at a meeting to swear in and honor five firefighter/paramedics hired during the last year.

Fire Chief Scott Franzgrote said every new recruit had experience with another fire department.

The firefighters are: Paul Davis, Matt Cappelen, Jason Wenzel, John Loesch Jr. and Zach Wynveen.

Loesch is a third-generation Rolling Meadows firefighter. His grandfather, Ted Loesch, served 38 years, including time as chief. His father, John is still in the department after 24 years.

The festive event featured family members, friends and cake.
