Geneva school superintendent's contract extended
The Geneva School District 304 board has again extended the contract of Superintendent Kent Mutchler.
The board voted 5-1 Monday to lengthen it a year, to June 30, 2019. Board member Leslie Juby voted "no," and Mary Stith was absent.
Mutchler has been superintendent since 2006.
Juby said she voted against it because she does not believe the district should have long contracts.
In the extension, Mutchler's sick days were reduced from 25 days a year to 20 days.
The district's contribution to his 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity retirement savings plan was increased 1.9 percent.
In May 2014, the board set pay raises for Mutchler of 2 percent a year for four years. In the 2013-14 fiscal year, his salary was $208,802, according to the latest salary report on the district's website.
