Muncie man sentenced to 45 years in prison for slaying

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A Muncie man was sentenced to 45 years in prison after telling a judge he fatally shot a man after catching him having sex with his fiancee.

The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1F3AEGg ) Delaware Circuit Judge Kimberly Dowling on Thursday accepted the sentence specified for 26-year-old Joshua Michael Haskins in a plea agreement. Haskins pleaded guilty in January to murder in last May's slaying of 29-year-old Gary Barbour Jr.

Haskins told the judge he was on the apartment's second floor putting his children to bed when he heard noises downstairs and saw his longtime girlfriend having sex with Barbour. Haskins said he and Barbour fought briefly, and then left.

Deputy Prosecutor Zachary Craig said Haskins retrieved a handgun went to the back of the building and shot Barbour repeatedly.
