Lake County Greek Fest July 10-11 in Libertyville

The Lake County Greek Fest is from 3-11 p.m. Friday, July 10, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1400 N. O'Plaine Road, Libertyville.

The fest offers a wide selection of Greek food, including entrees like roast leg of lamb, souvlakia (grilled pork shish-kebabs), Athenian chicken, gyros, spanakopita (spinach pie) and tyropita (cheese pie); along with treats like saganaki (breaded cheese served on fire) and loukaniko (sausage grilled to bursting) as well as a wide array of Greek pastries like the ever popular baklava.

The festival also offers games for children and entertainment in the form of traditional Greek music and dancing. Guests can also take a tour of the church with its fifth century Byzantine design.
