Take a plunge in Fox River for charity March 1

The third Annual Fox River Shiver is Sunday, March 1, at the Broken Oar Beach on the Fox River, 614 Rawson Bridge Road, Port Barrington. Teams, individuals and lower river businesses collect pledge money from friends, family and customers to sponsor them to take the "plunge" for One Small Voice Foundation benefitting Lurie Children's Hospital. Broken Oar adds proceeds from sales for the day in hopes to exceed last year's funds raise of more than $10,000. Costume clad volunteers gather every year to brave the icy waters and frigid air for charity. The festivities begin at noon in the heated tent with the VIP pre-party, followed by the Shiverer parade down to the beach, the main event, with the post party and live entertainment immediately following. For information, call (847) 639-9468) or visit brokenoar.com.
