Two dozen vying for Lake County judicial post

Two dozen attorneys have applied for a vacant associate judge's position in Lake County, according to officials in the 19th Judicial Circuit.

In coming weeks, the applicants will be interviewed by Lake County circuit judges and members of the Lake County Bar Association.

The public has an opportunity to comment in writing prior to Dec. 18. Letters should be addressed to The Office of the Chief Judge, Lake County Courthouse, 18 N. County St., Waukegan, IL. 60085-4359.

Two candidates will be named after the review process is complete. Circuit court judges will then vote on the final two, and submit ballots to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts. The name of the winner will be sent to Lake County Chief Judge Ukena.

The person chosen will replace Associate Judge Margaret A. Marcouiller, who is stepping down Dec. 14.
