Cause of Des Plaines fire may be electrical
The cause of a fire Monday morning in a vacant single-family Des Plaines home appears to be electrical in nature, authorities said Tuesday.
Fire Chief Alan Wax said the fire started at 5:05 a.m. in the basement of a home being remodeled on the 1200 block of Leslie Lane, and spread through the walls into the attic. The blaze was extinguished in less than 30 minutes, but left $76,000 in damage, Wax said.
No injuries were reported.
