"We were number seven," said Phil Wertz. He and his wife Mary were among the very first residents to move to Sedgebrook when the community first opened its doors. Ten years later, they remain loyal devotees "It's the cats' meow," said Phil.
The couple first became interested in the new community when they attended a marketing event. They immediately fell in love with one of the apartments they toured. "The rest is history. We put our home up for sale and it sold in 12 hours. It was meant to be and has been that way ever since," said Phil. "We've enjoyed every minute of it."
The fact that Sedgebrook is a Complete Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), providing independent living, assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation and skilled nursing, was important to Phil and Mary in their decision to move to the community. They are active and independent, but are reassured by the fact that if their health changes, they will be cared for. "I have four great kids that I love to pieces. I love them more than the air I breathe. But it would absolutely not be good for us to be living with them," said Phil. "We're exactly where we want to be."
Phil said that during the ten years they've lived at Sedgebrook, he's loved watching the growth of the community as well as the evolution of its great programs, services and amenities.
