Elmhurst restaurant fire sends one to burn unit
A Tuesday fire at an Elmhurst restaurant sent one person to the Loyola University Medical Center burn unit with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
Two others reported injuries but received minor treatment at the scene and refused to be transported, according to a news release.
The fire occurred at a restaurant at 609 W. St. Charles Road, and the Elmhurst Fire Department responded to the automatic fire alarm at 1:19 p.m. The fire was in the kitchen and authorities found a gas fire "that had resulted during a gas line repair," according to the news release.
The building's sprinkler system kept the fire under control.
