A.H. fire sets record once again for MDA

On May 29 the Arlington Heights Fire Department and Local 3105 held their annual Fill the Boot Drive and Benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association where they went into the streets of Arlington Heights and collected for the charity and then later held a benefit at the H.O.M.E Bar where they raised additional donations through auction and raffles.

This year the AHFD set another record by collecting $34,212.36 that day beating last year's record of $26,300.

The WGN Morning News segment Around Town with Ana Belaval came out and did a feature on the fire department and their work with MDA that morning and got to meet the AHFD MDA Ambassador, 4 year old Arlington Heights resident Ben Noble. This was Ben's third year of coming out and being a part of the Fill the Boot and it was the Arlington Heights Fire Fighters Local 3105 25th year of participating in the Fill the Boot Drive for MDA.

The money raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association provides medical services and a special MDA Summer Camp for kids affected by Muscular Dystrophy at no cost to the children and their families.

Local 3105 had over 50 members come out and volunteer their personal time to collect that day for MDA, allowing the fire department to stay fully staffed to run their normal operations.

Local 3105 would like to thank their sponsors Clementi's, Grand Frame, California Pizza Kitchen, Athletico, and the Arlington International Racecourse. California Pizza Kitchen will be assisting Local 3105 add to these record totals by donating 20% of the bill to MDA during the month of June on every Monday and Wednesday at the downtown Arlington Heights Location when you dine in and mention MDA.

The Arlington International Racecourse will also be letting MDA Ambassador Ben Noble be an “owner for the day” at the track with the fire fighters sometime this summer season. If you would like to still assist this cause, you can make a secure online donation to MDA at www.iafflocal3105.org/mda .

The AHFD and Local 3105 would like to thank all those that donated and contributed to this record year and being able to “Make a Muscle and Fill the Boot!”
