Family IDs man, 72, found dead after southwest Michigan fire

BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Family members have identified a 72-year-old man who was found dead inside his burned-out home in southwestern Michigan.

The Berrien County sheriff's department says deputies and fire crews responded Tuesday morning and found the Berrien Township home engulfed in flames.

The department says crews found the body after extinguishing the fire.

Family members who live nearby tell WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana, (http://bit.ly/1BMn4ab ) that the victim was Leonard Harp.

Susan Anderson is married to Harp's nephew and says she saw what she thought was a heavy fog through her window. She says she went outside and realized it was smoke pouring from Harp's home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
