We see where Patsy Smith, the incumbent president of the village of Campton Hills has finally decided to run for a third term, but as a write-in candidate. At last, here is our chance to rid ourselves of this pushy, quarrelsome busybody activist who, with a handful of well-heeled cronies, steamrollered the village's incorporation seven years ago.

Her ridiculous and self-serving announcement on Feb. 4 is typical of her arrogance and dysfunctional "leadership." The present board and some village employees are in total disarray because of her highhanded and irritating management style. Unfortunately they were disorganized and poorly led. Even after a huge publicity blitz by the pro-village cabal, the vote was extremely close. If only a few more people had bothered to vote, there most probably would be no village of Campton Hills today which would be no great loss.

Now we learn that because of Smith's obvious connivance in the notorious "Kiva" affair a couple of years ago which, thankfully, was rejected by saner heads on the board, the "village" is now feeling the financial aftershock of that "extortion," to the tune of some big bucks in legal liabilities.

After reviewing the many negatives related to Smith's tenure as village president, we could hardly support her write-in candidacy and we urge the residents of Campton Hills to turn out on Election Day and reject her attempt to further disrupt our village's image.
