Milwaukee firefighters save 5-year-old boy from house fire

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Milwaukee Fire Department says an unresponsive 5-year-old boy was revived by firefighters after they rescued him from a house fire on the city's northwest side.

Department officials say the blaze began Wednesday evening in a two-story duplex. They say there were flames coming out of three first-floor windows when firefighters arrived.

Assistant Milwaukee Fire Chief Dan Lipski says firefighters located the boy on the first floor of the duplex within minutes. He says the boy wasn't breathing and had some burns on his body.

Officials say the boy was revived, taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Smith says a woman and three other children were able to escape. He says no other injuries were reported.

The department will continue to investigate the fire.
