Dog rescued from Hoffman Estates fire
Friday's severe weather resulted in a fire at a two-story home in Hoffman Estates.
A dog was rescued from the fire, which started when a tree limb fell on the power lines going to the home on the 1700 block of Kent Road. The power lines snapped, sparking a fire that stretched from the first floor to the roof, fire officials said.
Firefighters estimate damage at $100,000.
While units were responding to the fire, they had to stop and remove large branches from the roadway to continue to the scene, fire officials said.
The residents were not at home at the time. No firefighters were injured.
