Sheriff's Marine Unit stats:

Lake County sheriff's police Wednesday announced statistics pertaining to this year's Marine Unit calls on the Chain O' Lakes and other waterways. The boating season began at the end of April and ended Oct. 11. The Marine Unit received a total of 917 calls for service, handled 12 accident reports and responded to a record low of one fatality. The unit conducted 642 safety boardings and, 568 traffic stops. The waterway deputies issued 331 citations, made 54 operating under the influence arrests and performed 84 business checks. The Marine Unit operated four days a week with 15 deputies.
