Shriners group calls off sale of Indianapolis concert venue
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The organization that owns the Old National Centre concert venue in downtown Indianapolis has called off plans to sell the building.
The Murat Temple Association had announced plans in late 2014 to sell the 106-year-old landmark to the national concert promoting company Live Nation Entertainment.
But association officer Larry Jefferson tells the Indianapolis Business Journal (http://bit.ly/1NPVcak ) that the membership voted this fall to rescind the contract. Jefferson declined to release the price Live Nation offered for the building, which has been affiliated with the Shriners since its construction and is known for its Middle Eastern-style architecture.
Jefferson said the association's agreement under which Live Nation operates the venue will remain in effect.
Live Nation began operating the 2,600-seat Murat Theater and the building's other performance venues in 1995.

This story has been corrected to show the planned sale was announced in late 2014, not 2015.
