Passenger exits moving vehicle near Antioch

A front-seat passenger in an SUV suffered serious injuries after stepping out of the vehicle while it was in motion near Antioch.

The Lake County sheriff's office said the incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on northbound North Lake Avenue near Route 173. The passenger in the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was taken via helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was listed in critical condition.

The case remains under investigation.
