Elk Grove police enforcement efforts net 556 violations
Elk Grove Village police pulled over 556 vehicles for violations during a two-week period of stepped-up enforcement, officials reported.
The Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, funded through a federal grant, resulted in three drug-related charges, two arrests for driving under the influence, 13 arrests for driving on a suspended, revoked or without a driver's license, 550 seat belt violations, 36 citations for improper use of an electronic controlled device, and 13 speeding citations.
The added enforcement took place from Aug. 24 through Sept. 7, and coincided with similar campaigns in other towns.
