Oakton Community College appoints new police chief

Dale Gustafson has been appointed as Oakton Community College's new chief of public safety and emergency management administration.

Gustafson, currently director of campus safety and security for Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, starts his new job on Oakton's Des Plaines campus Nov. 9.

Gustafson was police chief in Berkeley, and deputy chief, sergeant, corporal and patrol officer in Homewood. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, North East Multi-Regional Training and Prairie State College.

He will earn a base salary of $90,000.
