Too many ignore life-saving detectors

I applaud your recent Opinion piece on good smoke detectors and the importance of changing smoke detector batteries.

It is amazing to me how many people ignore this inexpensive life safety device in their homes. Just a few dollars invested and a few moments time can save a life.

I would encourage your readers to buy their smoke detectors a gift this holiday season, too - new batteries!
