Wellness Through Deep Hypnosis for Cancer Patients
Through an exciting new partnership between Wellness House and Countryside Church Universalist Unitarian, cancer patients will soon have access to hypnosis therapy designed to help release pain and facilitate healing.
Renowned consulting hypnotist Dr. Scot Giles is best known for his work with cancer patients. Hypnotism is a useful tool during every stage of cancer treatment. For those recently diagnosed, hypnotism can stabilize mood and keep one calm during the initial steps of diagnosis and staging. During active treatment, hypnotism can help with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy and can even speed post-surgical recovery. When treatment is complete, hypnotism can help one maintain a cancer-healthy lifestyle and control the stress that puts many at risk for further difficulties.
Dr. Giles formerly provided hypnosis therapy at Inverness-based Wellness Place. Sadly, Wellness Place closed its doors in 2014, creating a gap in the community for specialized cancer support services. "The subconscious mind can really put people in touch with their own healing power. Therefore, it was unfortunate that when Wellness Place closed we had no way to teach people in the Palatine area how to do that. Now, thanks to Wellness House and Countryside Church, we will have that again," Dr. Giles commented.
Dr. Giles will be guiding groups through self-hypnosis the first Saturday of the month beginning October 3 (remaining 2015 dates include November 7 and December 5) from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Countryside Church Universalist Unitarian, 1025 N. For 25 years, Hinsdale-based Wellness House has been providing the type of support services for cancer patients and their loved ones that research shows make a difference. With a strong desire to serve more people affected by cancer, 2015 marks the launch of Wellness Beyond Walls, an outreach initiative in which Wellness House partners with existing community organizations to provide specialized support for those affected by cancer. Thanks to the generosity of the individuals, foundations and corporations that provide gifts to Wellness House, all programs offered are available at no cost to participants.
Dr. Scot Giles is a board-certified Diplomate of the National Guild of Hypnotists, the highest credential a Consulting Hypnotist can earn. Dr. Giles has been in practice for more than 20 years, with a long record of success and many awards. He is the author of the curriculum used by the National Guild of Hypnotists to train Consulting Hypnotists to do medical hypnotism in the U.S., Great Britain and Canada.
