St. Charles police release results of Thanksgiving traffic safety detail
The St. Charles Police Department completed a 14-day enforcement period in connection with the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" traffic safety campaigns.
Additional patrol officers were assigned to enforcement details centered on the busy holiday travel season at night time hours when impaired driving is more likely to occur.
This was done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation. This initiative is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic related injuries and fatalities.
During this enforcement period, Nov. 16-29, St. Charles officers assigned to the extra patrols made 3 DUI arrests; issued 7 citations for speeding, 2 citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and 2 citations for other offenses including 1 for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Detail officers also issued 7 written warning tickets for various equipment and other violations.
Please continue to drive carefully and help us in removing impaired drivers from our streets!
