Barrington, Hersey pick up first baseball victories
Jake Peterson went 2-for-2 with a double and 3 RBI to help Barrington's baseball team come out on top in its season debut in Georgia on Tuesday as the Broncos topped Prairie View, Colo., 8-3.
Leadoff man Mitch Pfeiffer went 2-for-2 with a walk and 2 runs scored, and Austin Rochwick drove in 2 runs for the Broncos.
Prairie View out-hit the Broncos 10-8, but Barrington did not commit an error to help make a winner of Anthony DeLaurentis, who struck out six, walked two and allowed 9 hits in 6 innings.
Hersey 2, Riverton 0: Brendan Stonequist allowed 2 hits over 6 innings to get a victory and Nick Zouras finished up with scoreless ninth to earn a save as the Huskies (1-1) picked up their first victory of the year in a game played in Springfield.
Brett Harris went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Adam Schill drove in the other Hersey run. Both Huskies runs were scored by Will Trossen.
Prospect 6, Bryant (Ark.) 4: Senior Cliff Arnoux doubled and drove in 2 runs to help the Knights improve to 3-1 with a second straight victory in Tampa, Fla.
Grant Miller had a pair of hits and 1 TBI, Lucas Karz doubled and drove in a run and Patrick Donohue stole 2 bases for Prospect.
Prospect came up with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth and ended up needing them as Bryant did all its scoring the bottom half of the last two innings.
Brian Mulvihill allowed 1 earned runs over 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and no walks to pick up the win.
