Former day care worker to appeal child porn sentence
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A 22-year-old Indiana man is appealing his conviction and prison sentence in a case alleging he took explicit photographs of a 4-year-old girl at a day care where he worked.
The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/296J57z ) cites court records in reporting this week that Ali Al-Awadi intended to appeal.
Al-Awadi was convicted early this year on three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt handed down a 27-year prison sentence for Al-Awadi in June. Once he is freed, he would also be subject to 15 years of supervised release.
Al-Awadi still faces other charges as well.
