St. Edward's Mattas wins MSC crown

St. Edward's Michael Mattas beat Glenbard South's Michael Wittenberg on the first hole of a playoff Wednesday to win the individual championship of the Metro Suburban Conference boys golf tournament at The Sanctuary in New Lenox.

Mattas and Wittenberg each shot 2-over par 74.

The Green Wave finished second in the West Division meet with a 338. Glenbard South won the tournament with a 316.

Jason Allen shot 86 to finish in 10th place for St. Edward, while Aaron Worf had an 87 and Jon Carlson a 91.
