Cary-Grove downs Palatine in opener

Larkin Hanselmann didn't allow a hit and struck out 10 in 4 innings of work Wednesday as Cary-Grove defeated Palatine 2-1 in nonconference baseball action.

Matt McCumber came on and picked up the save for the Trojans (1-0), throwing 3 innings and striking out 5.

Jimmy Perkins was 2-for-3 with a double and Tyler Pennington had a double and an RBI for Cary-Grove.
