DeKalb 5, Elgin 2: Elgin outhit DeKalb, getting 4 hits off Illinois State recruit Morgan Newport, but the Barbs came away with the win in Elgin's season opener. Sabrina Stockman was 2-for-3 for Elgin, while Jessica Rago had an RBI. Rago was also the losing pitcher despite allowing just 3 hits. She struck out 8 and walked 2.

Antioch 10, Cary-Grove 2: The Trojans opened their season with a nonconference loss to Antioch. Amanda DeGroote was the losing pitcher.
