Walker's scoring powers Grayslake Central past Woodstock
Junior midfielder Nick Walker accounted for all the scoring, notching a hat trick to lead Grayslake Central's boys soccer team to a 3-0 win over Woodstock on Senior Night Tuesday.
Matt Kozak and Sebastian Hinestrosa had assists, while Conner Gosell and David Young each made 3 saves in net in sharing the shutout. Rams defender Daniel Orozco saved a ball on the goal line.
For the season, Walker has 10 goals and 7 assists.
Grayslake Central finished the regular season 10-8-3 overall and 4-2 in the Fox Valley Fox Division.
"It's been an up-and-down season for us with a very tough schedule and a slew of injuries, but the boys worked hard from start to finish today," Rams coach Tom Hamilton said. "The entire team was motivated to make sure the seniors ended their last home game with a win. These seniors have put in the work for four years, and I'm just happy that their last moments on their home turf were good ones. Now we're hoping to carry this momentum into the postseason."
Grayslake North 5, Prairie Ridge 3: Julian Jimenez scored twice for the Knights, whose win earned them a share of the Fox Valley Fox championship with Crystal Lake Central.
Tyler Salvador, Grant Nickolson and Chris Zamora also scored, while Sean Dameron added a pair of assists for Grayslake North (7-12, 5-1), which built a 3-0 lead. Brandon LeBaron and Kyle Hensley had assists as well for the Knights.
New Trier 2, Lake Forest 2: Lake Forest (6-9-2) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit, getting goals from Matthew Mick and Keegan Kullby.
