Lake Villa hosts TIF session

The Lake Villa village board will host a special informational meeting regarding a plan for the downtown area at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Lehmann Mansion, 485 N. Milwaukee Ave. Visitors can review information regarding a village-proposed special taxing district encompassing 243 properties on 178 acres in and around the downtown. Establishing a tax increment financing district would freeze property values for 23 years, with the added tax on improved properties funneled into a special fund that can be used for various purposes, such as demolition or installing roads or other improvements.
