CLC calling for art competition entries
The deadline to submit online entry forms for the College of Lake County's 35th Annual Recent Works: A Juried Competition exhibit is Sunday, Sept. 20.
Entry forms and images can be uploaded electronically at the entry website, clcillinois.edu/callforentries.
More than $1,000 in cash prizes and purchase awards will be given to artists selected for the exhibit, on view at CLC's Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the gallery with refreshments and live entertainment. The exhibit will run through Nov. 15.
Artists who are 18 or older and live or work in Lake County may submit up to two entries of original work completed in the past two years that have never been shown in the CLC gallery. Entry fees for one or two pieces are $20 or $15 for Friends of the Gallery members.
The exhibit's juror is Stephany Rimland, assistant professor of art history, Harper College.
Accepted works are due to the Gallery Oct. 5 from 1-7 p.m. or Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For details, call (847) 543-2040.
Gallery membership dues of $30 can be paid for on the entry website or can be submitted by check to the Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts division in Room B210, attention Melanie Kessler.
The Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art on the CLC Grayslake campus is at 19351 W. Washington St. Due to construction, visitors should park in Lot 1 on the north side of campus and enter through the technology building entrance.
The gallery is committed to displaying the works of Illinois artists and increasing the visibility of nationally known artists in Lake County. The gallery promotes tours and educational programs in conjunction with its exhibitions.
