Candidate has shown courage, wisdom

I strongly agree with the Daily Herald's endorsement of Charlie Wachs for Long Grove trustee.

During his tenure as trustee, Mr. Wachs served Long Grove well by helping bring in the Sunset Grove development and their sales tax dollars. He has enticed new business prospects by backing an upgraded "Permitted Use List," which opens the door for more retail and service entities to locate in Long Grove.

In addition, he improved code enforcements to maintain, and improve the appearance and stability of village properties by working together with property owners and merchants. Using the same relationship-building skills, he will be instrumental in attracting new developers to our town's business district.

Charlie Wachs is passionate about Long Grove. His family has served the community for over 60 years. His father, Ed Wachs, and I served as park district trustees at the same time.

When I developed the Long Grove recreation program, I thought Ed Wachs, being one of the "old school" members of the Board, would be my biggest foe. He, in fact, was one of my strongest, open-minded advocates, even at the risk of going against his friends and neighbors who might have thought, "our kids didn't have it, why change now?"

Charlie Wachs has that same courage. He has made and will continue to make decisions, as a trustee, based on what's good for the "whole" Village.

I strongly encourage Long Grove residents to vote for Charley Wachs. Two other candidates, running for three village trustee positions, with similar philosophies to Charlie Wachs are Stan Razny and Steve Sintetas. Wachs will be listed in the No. 1 position on the ballot, Stan Razny No. 2 and Steve Sintetas No. 3.

We live in a village where every vote counts. Use your important voice and vote 1-2-3.
