Library recognized for 25 years of service
At the Oct. 23 Huntley village board meeting, Mayor Chuck Sass read a proclamation for the Huntley Area Public Library's 25th Anniversary.
Sass discussed the formation of the library district on July 7, 1989, and recognized the 55 square miles that the library district currently serves.
In addition to reading the proclamation, Sass declared Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, as Huntley Area Public Library Day.
Huntley Area Public Library Director Frank Novak accepted a plaque with the village of Huntley seal, signed by Mayor Sass to acknowledge the proclamation.
Nov. 7, 2014, also happens to be the day that the library is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an open house featuring a look back at the history of the library, a view of today, and a glimpse of the future.
Guest speakers, light refreshments, music and mingling will highlight the event that will take place at the library after business hours.
Residents of the district may RSVP by Nov. 5 by calling (847) 669-5386, ext. 21.
The Huntley Area Public Library is at 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley. For more information, call (847) 669-5386 or visit website www.huntleylibrary.org.
