Aurora child molester convicted
A 32-year-old Aurora man was convicted Thursday by a Kane County jury of sexually abusing a young child he knew.
Joe H. Alvarez, of the 0-99 block of Jackson Place, was found guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after jurors deliberated for nearly four hours, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
Prosecutors said Alvarez had sexual contact with the child between Sept. 5, 2008, and Sept. 5, 2010. The victim was younger than 13 at the time.
He faces a sentence of probation or between three and seven years in prison.
He remains free on bond.
