Farm Livin' is the Life this Summer at Lake Villa District Library

Kids from birth through 6th grade are challenged to graze on great stories and bales of books to harvest a bumper crop of prizes. Teens, students in grades 7-12, will create their own farm by reading, participating in fun activities and cultivating their library skills. Adults can grow their own garden of books and library programs for a chance to win the grand prize.

All readers are encouraged to participate in the library's One Book, One Community program and enjoy Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman; an engaging story of a neighborhood that joins together to transform a trash-filled lot into a community garden. Copies are available at the library for checkout but others will be available at popular places throughout the community. If you find a copy, it's yours to take home and read. When you're done, plant it somewhere else for another person to read and enjoy.

LVDL's summer reading programs are meant to encourage and inspire reading during time off from school and to make visiting the library a fun, frequent stop for the entire family.

Summer reading officially begins Monday, June 8 and runs through Wednesday, August 29.
